A spreadsheet is a computer application for organization, analysis and storage of data in tabular form. Spreadsheets were developed as computerized analogs of paper accounting worksheets.

While it is clear to see how a spreadsheet may be used in a classroom to aid a teacher in marking (as your lab will clearly indicate), it should be noted that spreadsheets can be used for far more than just marking. The use of spreadsheets can be incorporated for use in almost all subject areas and grade levels whether it is to perform simple mathematical operations or managing complex statistics.
